Corporate Tax Director

About the Role

As Corporate Tax Director, you will be part of the Global Corporate Tax team at Muehlhan Group and will take overall responsibility for Global Corporate Tax matters across the organization.

Based in our Porto office, Portugal, this role has been established to serve as a knowledge center and support hub for tax matters across the Group. As Muehlhan Group continues to expand internationally, you will play a key role in organizing and managing the Group’s corporate structure, corporate tax matters, intercompany arrangements, and transfer pricing framework.

You will work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Legal, and Sales functions, as well as colleagues from recently acquired businesses being integrated into the Group. This is a senior-level position offering significant influence on the future structure and development of the business. The role includes regular international collaboration and approximately 50 days of travel per year across Europe, with additional travel expected during the onboarding and ramp-up period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and maintenance of the Group’s corporate and intercompany structure.
  • Investigate and help design cross-border working models from tax, transfer pricing, risk, and operational perspectives in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on tax-related matters and assist in preparing descriptions of working models for future business use cases.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the organization’s tax practices and policies.
  • Manage communication with external tax advisors and specialists regarding corporate tax matters.
  • Support tax due diligence, structuring, and review activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Monitor and assess international tax regulation developments across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Increase internal tax awareness and support employees with practical solutions for managing intercompany transactions.
  • Support transfer pricing compliance and documentation obligations across Group entities.
  • Assess and manage permanent establishment (PE) risks and obligations arising from activities in new and existing markets.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the organization on corporate tax matters, supporting optimal business solutions while mitigating tax risk exposure.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in international taxation within multinational organizations or advisory environments.
  • Strong knowledge of international corporate taxation, corporate structuring, and transfer pricing.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and take ownership of tasks from initiation through completion.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information, develop practical business solutions, and communicate technical concepts to non-specialist audiences.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration across all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
  • A structured and detail-oriented working style combined with the agility to respond to changing business priorities.
  • A positive mindset towards working in a rapidly growing and evolving international organization.

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with indirect taxation, particularly VAT.
  • Previous exposure to M&A transactions, tax due diligence, and post-acquisition integration activities.
  • Knowledge of international tax planning and capitalization rules.
  • A pragmatic, approachable, and collaborative working style, balanced with the confidence to challenge and influence where required.
